Ewig:

the infinite bulb

Packaging design
University project

On the outside, the LED bulbs consist of a socket, a heat sink and a diffuser; and protected by the latter, they have a system of chips and lights. With this information came the idea that these lights and chips should be integrated into the same removable disc. This way, once the bulb fails, only the inner ring has to be replaced, but the rest of the undamaged components can be reused.

Based on this concept it's born the infinite bulb, developed only as an idea from which to create and design the brand and packaging of the product.

Ewig is a German company, specialized in lighting and focused on the sustainability of its products. Its star item is the infinite bulb, which gives its name to the brand since Ewig’s translation from German is “eternal.” The logo was created by recreating the “W” on the Lombok font of the Vinti7 design studio, and accompanying it with a basic typography created specifically for it. The choice of colours was made after a market study in order to differentiate the brand from other competitors.

For the sale of this product two different packagings have been developed: one for the bulbs and the other for the exchangeable disc. Each box is made to the measure of the object inside. These containers are made of biodegradable cartons, plastics and inks, and have at least one see-through side for viewing the actual product before buying.
